After watching this video it made me question my self, I have grown up in a good church and younglife and have the best most godly parents anyone could ask for. So it took me a while to really look at my life, was I just going through the motions and was i really doing what god wants me to do or am I doing what I want to do? I want to be more out going with my faith and I have always be to scared to be rejected. but seeing you post a video like this on youtube and touch so many people and impact so much for the kingdom of god its really inspiring and it makes me want to do something meaningful with my life and i think good is calling me to youth ministry of some type and this video helped me realize that.

I’ve watched this video a number of times and no matter how many more times I watch it, it will always be as amazing as it was the first time. Thank you!

Keep doing what you do Jefferson!! Dont worry about the critics Jesus had them too. In fact Jesus said in John 15:18,19 that the world(religious legalistic people) would hate us just as it hated him. Jesus is being lifted high and glorified, and that is all that matters.

    Jefferson,
I’ve watched your videos, and just read your blog response to “Why I love Jesus, but hate religion”.
I am amazed and so grateful to see such a young man, truly in love with Christ and His church; Who subjects Himself to the correction so submissively and readily. God has given much wisdom and seems to continue to give you understanding through this time of growth and work for His Kingdom. I’ve also watched many of the “responses” on YouTube to your video and myself, attempted to respond to some of them in your favor. I was truly saddened that so many of our brothers and sisters so easily and without thought bashed a brother in Christ; Not a mere humble correction, but rather a public scorn.
Part of me believes that many of them are being convicted on a deep level. I understand the idea of “religion” meaning so many things to so many people and the audience your message was geared towards. I think that God also used it to strike the heart of our brothers/sisters who may have slowly slipped or be in the religious bondage you spoke of. I hope and pray that God gives you peace throughout this time that I’m sure is trying for you. I know that our Father looks down on you, proud of what you’ve done; And how you’re using this to allow Him to make you more like Christ. I was glad to read that you’ll be submitting your lyrics and words to your church elders; this is very mature of you. I am proud to have you as a brother in Christ, friend. My husband and I loved your video, and I look forward to seeing your future videos!
    Blessings,
    -TiA

I really have no words. But I’m blown away. The line “if Grace is water then the church should be an ocean, it’s not a museum for good people it’s a hospital for the broken” keeps making its way into my mind. Every time I hear this poem it’s just as powerful as the first time. Thank you for using your gift to glorify Him!
    God bless,
    Carmella

Heard your video was shown at my church this morning so I gave it a watch. Read a bit about the controversy and blog post. I see how it could be misinterpreted, but I understand (and agree with) what you meant. Jesus hates fake religiosity. He hates any pious behavior done for the sake of doing it. Anything that puffs up pride. He defined pure and undefiled religion…taking care of widows and orphans in their need. The least of these. He came not to be served but to serve. Humility.

Thanks for sharing this and for leading in the way you responded to the criticism/controversy. LOVE your heart, your thirst for truth, the way you go about seeking it out and verifying it, and the strength, brokenness, and humility with which you hold to it.

Excited to see what He does through you. Praying for you man. Will be watching, expecting. Keep seeking the counsel of the wise.

Well I actually saw your video in YouTube and it lead me to your website, and I also saw video responses to this video so, I just wanted to tell you that I really admire you for what you’re doing and I hope that you keep doing it. I’m from Guatemala and it would be great if someone could translate all of what your doing so that people from other countries could see them I think that would be really cool. And I know we don’t know each other but if you need help with translating I could help. But the purpose of this message is to tell you this:
In Matthew 5: 10-12 says: Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
    God bless you :)

Jeff, I thought more time would have to pass before I would hear or see, not the kind of Christian I currently am but the one I want to be. For too long I have been a shade of myself an empty shell, and the faith that I have tried to be living has proven to be hell. So what went wrong, what suddenly changed for me to reject Jesus and turn from the home where I belong, and through shallowness see. This I say to the selfrighteous fool, that you can try and trip me up but I will never be converted to a fool. I love my friends and my faith in Christ, but don’t you get that it cannot be taken through a heist.

Some parts are very true but other parts seem so far from true. Your poems are amazing and have powerful words that can influence a lot of people. I hope that you will make more poems about more of the bible. Please keep them true. The reasons why and the inspiration help to understand the poem. Also it would be an honor to talk more with you on your poems, but this is not the time nor the place to write to you.
