That's an excellent qesotiun.Perhaps too many Christians have been indoctrinated to think that science and faith must always clash. Maybe its because too many scientists have been indoctrinated to think that science and faith must always clash. So, we had probably better decide that this clash has got to go by the wayside and accept both.

Many lines in what you write point out truths I've been looking for. I especially like that we "have freedom to struggle" because Jesus bought that for us. What a concept! So much to think about in those few words.
I like that you keep tabs on yourself when you get caught up in human affirmations of what you do. (If it's heartfelt from someone you've touched, do you think maybe God is also speaking to you through the affirmation? To let you know, through a different route, that He loves you & you are doing the right thing for His glory?) You're right, keep tabs, but I think it's OK to be touched back by the people God uses you to touch :)

I really am grateful for your interpretations. I really have been touched by them. I only hope that you will continue on this path of reaching out to people. I myself do not belong to a church but deeply resonate with Jesus' word. I can't help but notice how your point of god's of pleasure and pain could also be pointed to churches and their follower's as leaders. I have a teenager and a young 20 something. I listen to them and their friends. It seems that when they hear church they hear "praise Jesus" as apposed to hearing "let me help you get through this". They hear "follow me and I will promise you this fairy tale promise in the sky" instead of "feel my teachings and I will help you through life". They do not realize that they have been raised Christian as many Americans do not. I have taught my children morals and the intention of the word of god without them realizing it. But it is incomplete, as knowing god and understanding that you know god can only complete this. I have no idea how to connect them to this as it seems the word church summons an image of "Jesus freaks and false promises". My only wish is that someday, some way, some where, someone will realize that praising Jesus is not what he intended and attract more people to this understanding of life. That learning from his teachings and praising the way was the point as to help people live better lives. I think putting the emphasis on a way of living life will attract more people. Because it is certainly the people who feel the most lost that find their way to church any way. I think of life as situations and inside of us is a bunch of tools to help us navigate. But no one quite knows how to use these tools. I think Jesus shows us how to use those tools properly. There really are no easy words to explain how to do it. Just like explaining how to snowboard or ride a bike. A big part of that is left up to the interpreter in explaining it and the rest is up to us to feel it.

Thank You for writing this Jeff because many people tend to forget God's love and his mercy. We often times thing that when we are tempted it is because God dislikes us and he doesnt care but it is the opposite. Ill never forget what was revealed to me while praying one day TEMPTATION=ELEVATION so inorder to get closer and higher with God. You will be tested and tried to see if your ready to be elevated so as you said it is okay to struggle.

Amen!! Since first encountering your videos and blog I have been praising God for the blessings He has given you. You are definitely a light in a world of darkness and I pray that you continue to share what the Lord has given you. I have been consistently blessed by your words and I will continue to share them with my family & friends. This post brought me to tears as I read aloud the verse you shared from 1st John. How amazing to think that at our most despicable and sinful moments he reassures His abundant and unconditional love for us! :) :)
